Our family, like so many others, is populated with people of different ages at different life-stages with different eating needs, likes and dislikes, imposed health requirements, dietary regimes – in short, culinary chaos. We are catering here for vegans, vegetarians, those enduring Krones, celiac, gluten intolerance, allergies and plain greed ( I fall into the latter category). We are all fussy folk, in one way or another.
However, we are all united in a desire to eat healthy, seasonal, nutritious and, above all, tasty food. So, we have sourced recipes from our family, friends, magazines, TV and books, cooked them, modified them and committed them to print here, to start this blog. We welcome all contributions to expand the range of easy to prepare foods suitable for an aspiring healthy diet.
This blog aims to get families enjoying meals together by providing recipe suggestions that can easily be adapted to suit all tastes. It is based on our own extended family which we would like to think is normal (whatever normal actually is), but where we all seem to have some differing eating requirements.
The tone is deliberately light-hearted. This is not about imposing a dietary discipline but rather offering practical options so that we can all eat healthy and tasty food together at the same time without extensive and elaborate preparation involving an AGA and fifteen saucepans. Our success is measured by everyone at the table having food to enjoy without food fights or ensuing trips to A&E.
It is not all working yet. I need to get the index doing something smart but have not found out how. Also, I want to tell you a bit more about the characters that inhabit our family so you can see where we are going with the recipes. More to do!!!
